Audley Films/Paul White have entered into an agreement with Number 9 Films and the UK Film Council to provide overhead funding in return for shares in the company, taking advantage of the slate funding that is being provided by the UK Film Council, Irish Film Board, Channel 4 and Intandem for the development of feature films for the next three years.
Stephen Woolley, Elizabeth Karlsen and Number 9 Films have three films currently at the Toronto International Film Festival: Neil Jordan's highly acclaimed "Breakfast on Pluto", to be released by Sony Classics Pictures in America, HBO's "Mrs Harris", written and directed by Phyllis Nagy, and "Stoned" - funded by Audley Films - which will be released in the UK by Intandem and Vertigo Films on November 18th. We are looking forward to developing and producing more films of this high quality.
Woolley's credits include Interview With a Vampire, Company of Wolves, The Crying Game, Backbeat, The End of the Affair, Mona Lisa, Intermission, and he is the director of Stoned.
Karlsen's producing credits include The Crying Game, Hollow Reed, The Neon Bible, Ladies In Lavender and the Oscar nominated Little Voice, as well as the aforementioned Mrs Harris which stars Sir Ben Kingsley and Annette Bening.
Future projects will include Toby Young's best selling novel, "How To Lose Friends and Alienate People", Blake Morrison's "And When Did You Last See Your Father", Peter Ackroyd's "Dan Leno and The Limehouse Golem", Patricia Highsmith's "Carol", a film based on the last days of Jimi Hendrix and, with Julian Schnabel, "The Lonely Doll".
"Elizabeth and I see this as a very fruitful and positive involvement of Paul White and Audley Films in the future of Number 9 Films and Paul's continuing involvement in the film industry will provide a lifeblood and energy to keep European cinema alive and kicking" Stephen Woolley
